The story of Robyn and Jimmy’s down-to-earth, love-filled wedding starts with an ordinary adventure along Newborough beach one Sunday in 2018. A day that developed into a magical proposal against the naturally dramatic backdrop of the welsh coastline. It was the perfect moment for this super outdoorsy couple. When I captured their engagement shoot a few months prior to their wedding I could tell the day itself would be overflowing with love and genuine, personal moments. As a Snowdonia wedding videographer, this was a beautiful wedding for me to shoot, capturing their story from the very beginning.
Fast forward to a summer’s day in 2021, and 4 postponements later Robyn and Jimmy’s wedding went ahead with 25 guests. One of Robyn’s most important guests was her Dad, who works abroad most of the time. They had managed to settle on a date that enabled him to be a part of the special occasion. The lead-up to the wedding during the pandemic had been stressful and emotional for the couple with cutting down the guest list and competing with travel restrictions – two of Robyn’s closest friends couldn’t be there.
Robyn and Jimmy shared with me that one of the main reasons they chose to hire me as their wedding videographer was due to the turmoil of the postponements; they wanted to be able to share their day with everybody who couldn’t attend and cherish the moment over and over again to remember how special it was.
When the wedding day came around it was so lovely to see Robyn and Jimmy looking as though the tension of the run-up to the wedding had melted away. They were just so happy to finally be married. In the picturesque town of Tywyn on the Cardigan Bay, where boats bob in the sparkling harbour and the sun glows on little houses topped with grey rooves, you can find Llanegryn Church – a dream of a location for a couple – and a wedding videographer. It’s a place very special to the couple because it is Robyn’s family church, and the couple commented that they always feel ‘warm and humbled’ when they go there. Choosing to get married here was the perfect sentimental choice for this intimate wedding. Robyn and Jimmy got ready in Felinheli where they live, and while Robyn had her hair (Kim Nicole Hair) and makeup (Alexandra Jones) done she video-called one of her best friends who weren’t able to attend due to the restrictions.
The couple described to me how, when Robyn arrived at the ceremony, the drizzle dispersed just like on their proposal day! Their beloved three-legged dog Enbo was the ring bearer, proudly wearing a bow tie and sharing this special day with them. After the ceremony I went for a walk with Robyn, Jimmy and Enbo to capture them in the wild of the Snowdonia foothills. Robyn embodied boho beauty in her dress from The Silk Loft and Jimmy was dapper in a Moss Brothers suit, customised with their original wedding date! They both rounded up their outfits with super cool Doc Martens, brown for Jimmy and dark red for Robyn.
Afterwards, they went with their loved ones for ice cream before making their way back to Felinheli for their meal, and I left them glowing with love to enjoy their evening. Capturing their day was all about telling their story, particularly with the ceremony taking place in a location that is so meaningful for them. I wish them nothing but love and laughter, and beautiful marriage and future together.
